Nonlinear dynamics, nonlinear optics and lasers (DONLL)

Our general goal is to study the nature and effects of nonlinear phenomena in different types of physical systems, with a special emphasis on optical devices such as photonic crystals, lasers and microcavities. An important motivation of these studies is to elucidate the potential use of nonlinear effects in technological applications such as optical communications.

Additionally, stochastic phenomena, complex dynamics in neuronal models and neural networks, mesoscopic brain models, brain functional networks, classification of biomedical signals and ocular imaging.

    Be-Optical (H2020-675512)

    It is an Innovative Training Network (ITN) aimed at providing a structured training program to 14 PhD students in a wide range of optical imaging technologies and signal processing tolos. Within this network, the goal of the work of the UPC team is to develop novel semiconductor-based light sources and advanced data analysis tolos for biomedical applications.     Neural Engineering Transformative Technologies (NETT) is a Europe-wide consortium of 18 Universities, research institutes and private companies who host 17 PhD students and 3 postdoctoral researchers during 4 years. These researchers combine enginnering, mathematics, physics and neuroscience to develop brain-computer interfaces, cognitive computers and neural prosthetics in the emerging field of Neural Enginnering.
