The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role

We are seeking a laboratory technician to work with human (primary) samples and cell culture, molecular cloning, lentiviral vectors, RT-PCR and other basic molecular biology techniques. The work will also involve mouse work to some extent (mouse colony management and genotyping).

About the team

The regulatory genomics and diabetes group studies genome regulation in pancreatic beta cells, and tries to understand the role of gene networks in differentiation and disease mechanisms. It is a multidisciplinary team that combines approaches such as genome engineering in model systems, single cell genomics, computational regulatory genomics and human genetics. It is funded by ERC, CIBERDEM, Fundacio Marato TV3, Horizon 2020 and Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion y Universidades. The post itself is intended to work on a Human Cell Atlas project funded by Horizon 2020. The successful applicant will join a team of lab members working on regulatory genomics and modelling of genetic mechanisms relevant to diabetes treatment.

Desired skills and expertise

Professional experience

Must Have (at least one of the following)

  • You have proven experience in mammalian cell culture (1 year or more)
  • You have proven skills in molecular biology techniques (1 year or more)
  • You have proven experience working with mice

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

  • You have experience in Stem-cell culture
  • You have knowledge of RT-PCR
  • You have expertise in molecular cloning / miniprep / midiprep / maxiprep
  • You have expertise in flow cytometry
  • You have expertise working with lentivirus / CRISPR
  • You have experience in mouse genotyping and mouse colony management
  • You hold a PhD not necessary


  • You are fluent in English

Contract duration and other benefits

  • Contract duration: 1 year.
  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
  • Target start date: January 2022.

Selection Process
