A job is being opened to cover 1 Position of Bachelor's Degree to support the research of INSTITUT D'INVESTIGACIONS BIOMÈDIQUES AUGUST PI I SUNYER (IDIBAPS) at the research project "Implementació de la medicina genòmica: de la recerca a la pràctica assistencial" Grant Agreement Number: APORTACIO_MED_PERSON, funded by GENERALITAT DE CATALUNYA - PROJECTES, with temporary contract.
Job description / Tasks to be developed:
The main task of the candidate will consist of analysis and modeling of medical data and integration of genomic and clinical data. The candidate will also be in charge of data management, front-end and back-end (Full-stack) web development on emerging technology platforms for Personalized Medicine. This activity aims at supporting a number of large research projects that seek the identification of new Biomarkers and therapies in oncology. At the same time, this position will also allow the candidate to be in touch with the international research community that aims at designing and implementing large infrastructures for cancer genomics. Specifically, the implementation will be based on the existing platform developed by the International Cancer Genome Consortium: https://dcc.icgc.org/search, and will be developed in close collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC).
Desired skills and expertise
Required qualifications and skills:
- Required Education Level: Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Similar Degree.
Highly interested and motivated in the biomedical field.
Experience in design and exploitation of databases and , in the field of biomedicine.
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and programming languages.
Experience in some of the following areas:
Scripting languages: Perl, Python, Bash or R.
Programming languages: Java.
Extensive knowledge of bioinformatic tolos.
Knowledge of cloud, virtualization and container technologies (e.g. OpenNebula, Docker).
Independent and motivated person.
Team oriented person with good written and verbal communication skills, experience with working in interdisciplinary teams.
Required Languages: English (high level).
Contract duration and other benefits
Temporary full time Contract.
Annual gross remuneration inherent to the job offer object of this call will be fixed on the basis of the experience provided and the skills of the candidates.
